Dear Russ,
Since publication, I have received 13
phone calls and sold nine services
from termite, to lawn and pest control.
Total revenue from these services is in
excess of $10,400.
Russ, thank you for launching this
publication and should you decide to
expand the beachside area, I’m sure
you will have Truly Nolen’s support.
Thanks again and keep up the good
work with helping local businesses
become more successful.
Gratefully,
Alan Kershaw Truly Nolen,
Senior Inspector /Trainer
Just wanted to drop a line and thank
you all for a great publication! Really
loved the “Slip Back In Time.” I’m
51, and remember each and every
thing mentioned! Thanks for the
memories…quite fun!!! Actually
found my roller skate key not too long
ago. Really confused my 15 year old
daughter J!
Hello Rose,
I love the publication and the highlights
of beachside businesses. This is a great
medium with which to support the local
businesses. The advertisements are
sophisticated and the articles relevant
to our community. I am sure others,
like me, keep their most important
business beachside.
Especially enjoyable was the feature
on Kalianas Spa. Since it opened, I
have made it the special destination for
visiting family and friends. I worked for
one of the investors during its inception
and have loyally taken special people
there, from my mother and sister
during wonderful family time, to my
hugely pregnant daughter-in-law (just
before delivery) so she could have her
poor feet spoiled and soothed. I even
sent my son there when her returned
from Iraq so he could have his weary,
wicked-looking feet tended.
I look forward to future publications.
Please continue the advertisement
format – it is refreshing to see
advertisements done well. I know, I
grew up as the daughter of a newspaper
publisher.
To everybody,
I recently ran an ad in the WaveRider
Magazine. The response was so
amazing, that I committed to advertise
through all of 2009, including the front
cover spot.
Also, I might add, the whole staff was
not only professional, but went beyond
my expectations in helping me set up
my ad.
Thank You Indian River Press,

Thank you so much for all your help and sending those copies! My dad Barney has had a few rough years with his health and seeing that picture put a smile from ear to ear on his face, thanks so much. I’m 27 and surf, but seeing my old man with all his buddies when he was 16 is unbelievable. We have 10 or 15 pictures of his surfing days, but not that one, it’s great. Thanks again….KyleK
Hello Russ and Rose,
I’ve enjoyed reading the Waveriders that have come out to date and decided to make the plunge as an advertiser too. The advertising team is great and I’m thrilled with the ads. Last week’s Suntree/Viera issue was our first one and we’ve already received a phone call! We’re looking forward to more issues and a growing relationship. Thanks…Jill Mimbs
Hello Rose Cobin,
I received the inaugural issue of the Suntree/Viera Waverider magazine in my mailbox today. Absolutely beautiful! Congratulations! A very colorful and interesting publication. I love the colors and design chosen for the logo! I am Betty Porter, a freelance writer/photographer with the Florida Today weekly community editions, the Viera Voice and Senior Life newspapers and Spacecoast Living magazine. I have lived in the area since 2005 having moved here from Lake Mary where I was the journalism instructor and college student newspaper and literary magazine advisor at Seminole Community College.
I am interested in knowing if you are accepting freelance articles and photos. Thanks for getting back to me with the answer to that question and any specifics regarding the freelance aspect.
Again, congrats on the first issue…always the hardest! I hope that I can be a contributor to future issues.
Best,
Betty
As I sorted mail, I started to pull your magazine to toss out with other unwanted material. But my old “printing/advertising” eye (35 years in the business) caught the impressive creative design and awesome print job of your publication.
Congratulations on a job well done – I look forward to future issues.
My wife had already discarded your inaugural issue of Waverider into our recycling bin when I arrived home from work yesterday. If not for the eye-catching cover and curious name it would have remained there. I pulled it out of the bin, slipped on my reading specs and started leafing through the glossy pages. Well done.
I noticed that you asked for suggestions and or comments so here are mine.
The first thing I wanted to do upon opening your publication was to read about the lady behind the microphone since I listen to a lot of talk radio. I quickly leafed through twice and came to the conclusion that there was no story associated with cover photo. Then I stumbled upon Kelly Collazo’s article and made the connection. And I noticed the add in the upper left corner.
Suggestion: 1) Attach a photo to the article to help reader’s make the connection. 2) Stories should be broken into smaller paragraphs. Small paragraphs are easier to read than one big one.
Suggestion: Do more feature stories on your advertisers since it’s your mission to champion local businesses. Do stories on upcoming events (e.g. Melbourne Art Festival ).
Suggestion: Think about getting your advertisers or local business owners to do your different stories.
I wish your publication all the best.
Sincerely,
JR Harrison
Rose-
I hear nothing but GOOD about the Waverider. People like it and pick it up in the thrift shop.
Your publicity about our Showtime fund raiser really helped us. Several people called for more info and how to go about getting tickets. Thank you so much for your help. Keep up the good work- we look forward to every issue.

I am very happy advertising in the Waverider Magazines. The Suntree/Viera issue generated 6 phone calls and 2 new contracts in the first issue!
I have now committed to advertising in both the Beachside and The Suntree/Viera magazine for a full year.
Thank you Rose for making the most of my advertising dollars.
